The Way You Make Me Feel

A demise I could ignore like a passing cloud.

Unrelated blood, never met and an once sided affair aren't the only adjectives that apply. This man was no doubt a heartthrob of millions, a childhood icon to adore, a talk across the globe for reasons good or bad, of feelings love or hate; to me he meant just a little more.

Having sang one of his compositions at a school function, I began to adore him and his style. It was
probably my first tryst with live stage singing and with the western world. Sincere thanks to my
schoolmate of 6th standard, Tunir, who invited me over to join him for "The Way You Make Me Feel."

Later on in years to come, when my roomie and buddy, Mir bhaiya, described him as a 'PERFECTIONIST' and I began to follow his dance.. the amazing swiftness, the feather feet, the
moonwalks .. with amazing awe and i-want-to-be-just-like-him energy. Be it.. Beat-it, Black Or White, Don't care about us... those were favorites in no time.

Mir bhaiya has called 4 times since he woke up to this news today, every time with a new
reminiscence but the same heavy saddened tone. For me it’s a more-than childhood Star's good bye forever.
And for both of us, Michael Jackson will ever live on as a Perfectionist @ work.

As Vasudev asserts in the Battlefield 'Karm Ka Kousal ka hi naam Yog hai', he remains a Yogi of showbiz until eternity.

Goooood Morning Bangalore! -- Vasanthi sans Radio City isn't fun!

I don't know her neither she does me.. i have never met her neither has she ever...
So What is it that binds these two unknowns?...Its the common passion we share -- Music..
My fav voice on air has the name Vasanthi (RJ for the --'Breakfast show' on Radio City Bangalore, every morning)... Itz been years listening to her style and choice.. And this morning as she announced her departure.. something pushed me into the 'will miss you..' ditch. The jhanvi of Munna bhai.. is her mirror with the punch line 'Goooooooooooo..ooODD morning Bangalore' twisted to fit Mumbai.

Life, after my advent into this city of dreams in 1999 was primarily occupied with books... untill Radio city came along .. filling the city skies with melodies for all.. Latest bollywood numbers, oldies, english blues, rock, jaaz -- 24/7. As a student my roomie owned this small hand made radio.. an object of Research by Dissection! The moment you touch it, it used to go into the most annoying radio vocal.. Jhzzzzzzzzzzz .. !!! yet, it served as the perfect mate to wake up with in the morning and go to bed with... After college when I could afford a mobile phone the only chosing criteria was not surprisingly one with FM ! The ride to office was perfect.

Books, movies and Songs are easily correlated to ones state-of-mind and circumstances..
Say an 'Andekhi Anjani si..' while I was waiting for my love of life...
'AAj mei upar..aasmaa niche ..' when passed an exam
'Phoolon ka taron ka..' and the heart goes out to my siblings..
'Wo sikandar hi kehlata hai.. ' the never-failing-to-boost-morale number..

Music has always hit me hard and radio has been the most prominent one to bash.

Come 2006 and the air was swarming with new stations -- R-Mirchi, R-One, Indigo .. 11 of them competing to match my wavelengths but 'The Morning and Vasanti' combi remained 'fresh' and
hitting as ever !

Remember a day when she played 'Kuch toh hua hai.. kuch ho gaya hai..' and me was all swaying out of my bus letting the morning wind touch my hair and elsewhere rising spirits.. rendering smiles :)

and there are scores and more of such close-to-heart moments .. instilling into my memories and imaginations ..

Nevertheless she is a lady of substance with having represented the Nation of a Billion at an Young leaders' summit.

Aptly selected email id shez got 'sunshine@....'
A BIGG 'Thanks' for being that bit of bright ray of all the shine in my life...!

As they say.. the only thing permanent in life is CHANGE.. though tough I will embrace this one too.. with a wish... 'Rock on and keep spreading ur Vasanthiness! Good Luck !!"

Listen to Radio City's promo Whatte-fun here!

Oh Dear Life!

'Let me quickly sneak into my scrapbook. Probably an expecting hi from an ol lost bud. Or maybe dad left wishes for the forthcoming tests.. .. .. Ah I got an early morning class tomorrow should get to bed now..'

Probably the last thoughts of a soul the night before the ghastly murder.. in a morning shower; Of bullets rather than the usual water in the bath. 32 people we killed in a rampant gun shot incident by a mentally unstable student in the early hours at the Virginia Tech campus.

These college bags will never be picked up..

And as fellow countrymen follow what happened to Minal Panchal, who was reported missing and later dead 12 hours ago there is a sea of scraps pouring love and care to the anonymous unknown stranger. Only if that few minutes spent by each one for her could add up to her life.... (21869 in 12 hrs.. and adding)

Are the bonds of grief and misery stronger than that of joy and happiness

Incidentally found one reason why waking up late in the morning wouldn't be bad at all. May be a life saver huh!

Joy with John

He came, he spoke and it echoed. Adored by tech evangelist, graced by his simplicity and humility, polished with aplomb and fortitude he even walks the political ramp with the President of the United States. John Chambers took over the reins of Cisco over a decade ago and has steered it through the turbulent slowdown era without losing the vision and value instilled since the company was born.

Red carpet welcome!

Cisco poised as the Alpha and Omega of communication technology powering the Internet Age of today has market share way much higher than all of its competitors stacked into one. He has been a leader, quite a favourite who even the competitors look up to. (ask me how :)

John on his way to the podium to address Cisco India. Clicked moments before he stretched his hand out for mine :)

Bangalore rain

Its true "The best things in life are free". Like the rain drops. For the last two days I have travelled back home in the rains facing straight up the sky not to miss a single drop meant for me. And an icing to the cake was my music source, my FM phone plugged in to ears. Looking back at time - there had been innumerable such blessed moments - moments spent in nature's arms. Hailing and having lived my childhood in one of the greenest states, it felt like a fish out of the pond being transferred to a jungle of concrete and a smoky room.

Truely lucky to take a break from the artificial coziness of my 6*6 cube at work and experience what I have always heard for the last 10 years - my fav Jagjit Singh's mp3 - "Yeh daulat bhi lelo, yeh shaurat bhi lelo, bhale chinn lo mujhse meri jawani, Magar mujhe lauta do BACHPAN KA SAWAN, Wo kagaz ki kashti, wo BARISH KA PAANI". It felt, this is heaven.

This ain't Shine

He bade a bye to his little daughter before leaving to work as another usual day of the middle class local train traveller. Without knowing that it was the last one. The mother in another home was preparing dinner for her son who would come home tired after a days toil and labor. Little did she know she would see him go before she does.

Yesterday was a horrid evening for each Mumbaikar with a series of blasts rocking what is called the 'Lifeline' of the ever busy city. A similar blast on London's underground system almost a year ago was a testing time for the Scotland Yard. And within a week the suspects were arrested from the suburbs and brought to law.

But nothing to look forward to for justice for the Mumbai Mother and the Daughter. Worry not India, we have a lot of excuses to fall back upon - population? corruption?

A Billion Hopes

How many of we knew there was one Shashi Tharoor serving at the top post at United Nations since 2 decades. A nominee for the coveted title of the UN Secretary General has now had a huge fan following in an emotinally charged India, which is always in a look out for a Hero to look up to. The media and the press have had no thought projecting what is rather Shashi's personal achievement, as India's candidature vs Rest of the world!

Shashi Tharoor : Will he?

Its remains for time to decide whats in store for this blue - eyed ambassador and over a billion hopes. As emotinally spirited citizens of India we can look forward to a plethora of nationalism let the result swing either way!

The Spider Personified

Just one chance a year. And he had lost 12 times in a row. At 34 today he might be conceived as a threat to none. Well not really. Jonas Bjorkman rose above all the adversaries to reach his first Wimbledon semis last night after 12 previous attempts. The marathon five setter win over Radek Stepanek, 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 was a treat to watch!

A jubilant Jonas Bjorkman wants to hug the crowd after defeating Radek Stepanek to reach the men's semi-finals for the first time.

"It was very emotional, because I didn't think this was going to happen at this stage of my career," said Bjorkman, at 34 the oldest man to reach the Wimbledon semifinals since Jimmy Connors in 1987. "I realized that I achieved something that I never thought I would do again.
It's just the greatest moment for me."

Triumph of the human spirit. Had King Robert Bruce been around the lush green Wimbledon courts yesterday, he would not have had to sit in a scary cave and need a spider to teach him what Bjorkman established "Try Try Try Again"

Heart Breakkk..

It was an ugly bolt from the blue with two goals slapped on Germany at the penultimate moments of the semi-finals. The roaring home crowds silenced, the team humiliated, Italy exhulted and a heart broken me :(

By the way the ones who still wondering if I were who, you are right!
W- White collared labor
H- Highly paid above the lot
O- O yea! I am another software developer

Born and brought up in the arms of mother Nature, I come from a small town called Barpeta Road in the state of Assam in North Eastern India. I took up college education in Hyderabad and then my graduation from Bangalore. While the dense trees and lovely rivers are out of life, the heebie-jeebies of the never sleeping cyber city have replaced them. And see, I have moulded the me into it. With perfection!

With an ardent wish and a wishful hope of its long life.. I wish AluGobi a very "Happy Birthday!"
Give it love guys! :)
